You need a flash …
You need a flash player to play flash videos - and silverlight to play the silverlight format. I am not certain if the silverlight player will play other formats - that would be a question for Microsoft. sorry I can’t help.

I am not sure what WMM is. But yes Windows Media Video files can me edited. You can use Windows Movie Maker if you have XP - and lots of other video editors too. I hope that helps.

Streaming video …
Streaming video rippers (stream capture software) gives better quality and usually can record on-demand streams much faster than in real time. But some video streams can not be recorded with streaming video rippers (See Audio/Video stream recording forums for more), so you have to use Screen video capture software. Besides screen video capture software can be more stable when recording live streaming video.
