What is the average percentage relative to you net income that is normally incurred for commuting?

I live in central Maryland and commute to the Baltimore area every day for work. My monthly expense for gas accounts for 20% of my net income. Is this reasonable or high for the area?
For someone commuting to work in the DC/Balt area, what would be a normal expectation for commuting expenses in terms of percent of net income?

I’m retired and your paying too much since I pay zero dollars.

I live outside Houston, and I commute about 25mi to work everyday. I spend about 10% on commuting. I think you need a more efficient care mate.

When I drove my van fuel costs were around 80% on my Harley it’s down to about 10% I don’t mind the rain anymore.
