What are the main differences between a net book and a lap top?

If you just want to send and receive emails and surf the net would a net book be sufficient?

A netbook would do all of that fine. Net books are smaller, have less hard drive space, and less of pretty much everything. The battery will last longer in a netbook because they are meant for traveling. You can actually get some laptops for a little over $400 though. Most cell phones can do all of that actually. But yeah, it’s up to you. You might decide you want to do more on your computer later, so a little extra power might be nice.

A netbook would be sufficient for those purposes. Netbooks are called netbooks because they are made for individuals who don’t need to have a computer for very much beyond office/productivity work, web browsing and email use. The idea is that if the customer knows that he/she has no need for audio and video hardware, why pay for a computer that has capabilities beyond what they require? You might as well only pay for the capabilities that you expect you will need.
