I really want to self-teach myself computer programming over the summer. I am looking at Amazon books and all of the reviews say "I noticed my 10 year old son playing around with scripts and I bought this book for him." And I was like "…" Now my dreams are kind of crushed because maybe computer programming is just a natural talent?
Thank you!
No, thats not true. There’s never an age to start something!

NO……it does not need so called ‘natural talent’…..but its just …computer programming needs a lot of Logic….and one has to remember many things
like in C++….one has to remember the syntax….the errors or other thing…..
in Java or HTML there’s a ton to learn…..
so its just….that the kid is small to learn the Logic behind every step.
as soon as he is old enough to understand and learn the logic’ and syntax he will be able to do programming…..
and this also needs a lot of practice. so u need to b patient and don’t get disheartened….if he is playing with d scripts even at the age of 10…it wont take him long to understand the logics……

no not at all. you can start at any age. it just depends on your skills. i got into it because i’m really good at problem solving and at math and i like the way programming forces me to think. the first time i ever programmed anything i was 17. i know people (such as my brother) who started A LOT younger!!!

I started learning programming when I was about 30 (there wasn’t much programming happening, except at IBM, before that). I’ve been earning my living by programming for almost 40 years now.
I’d love to have lived in a time when I could have started learning programming when I was 10 (or younger), but during Truman’s administration (that’s when I was 10), "programming" was what the program director did at a radio station.
To be a good programmer you have to be left-brained (logical) as opposed to being artistic (right-brained). But if you’re right-brained you’d make a good web designer (or a designer of anything that needs artistic ability).
