Computer Programming?

Hey I was just wondering, what would be a better route to become a computer programmer?

1) Go to university and get a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and then try to land a programming job after I graduate.

or

2) Go to college and get an advanced diploma for computer programming & analysis (with co-op), try to get a programming job from the co-op placement or from anywhere else. Then eventually try and get a Bachelor of Computer Science.

Which route should I pick?

Both will work, but the latter will look better on a resume as you have practical experience instead of just a degree. However, you can still get practical experience in other ways. Can’t you work in the summer or volunteer or do some other things?
