Okay, I am designing a website for a shop I used to work at, and I created a logo with a transparent background. I am trying to figure out how to import it (while still retaining the transparent background) into a Dreamweaver site. Every time I try to do it, it shows a white background for the 250×250 logo on the site, but I want the background to be completely transparent. How can I do this? Thanks in advance!
You need to save it as a PNG or GIF to use transparency on a web page. JPEG doesn’t support transparency in an image. Remember however, some older browsers don’t display PNGs with transparency.
I have a Apple Power PC Powerbook in which Silverlight 3.0 is installed, but I still cannot watch movies with the stream instantly feature. Is there any way to kill Netflix?
Here’s the system requirements for the Mac. Bottom line, you need an Intel based Mac and you have a PPC based one. Only solution is to get a new Mac unfortunately.
Mac OS X requirements: an Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.8 or later; Safari 3 or higher; Firefox 2 or higher; 1 GB RAM.

I’ve been using the computers at my university to work on the site, but I got the program today so I jumped all my files from the school’s computers to my computer. I’ve been editing, and I’m just now noticing that things are saving in DreamWeaver, but they’re not showing up on my site. Why?
Read the directions for starting with Dreamweaver. You need to make a projects folder and install all your files in exactly the same relationship as they were at work. Then DW will inform you that any new files are not in your Projects folder and ask you if you want to move/copy it to that folder. This way, when you set up the FTP function to Publish any new or updated files, everything will work correctly online.

so if adobe flash for the web is free how are they suppose to make money of it and silverlight also??
Like GideonD said, the program Adobe Flash is what you use to make flash files such as movies and games. If you buy the program it costs about $700. Flash Player is a web plugin that allows people to share the content they created and other people to view that content. The player is free so that anyone can download and use it. It’d be kinda sucky if someone paid $700 for the Flash program and made something and noone could watch it because they didn’t want to have to pay to use the plugin to view the content. So it makes sense to have to pay for the program if you’re going to make flash content, and to have the web plugin be free so that anyone can view flash content that other people created and spent so much time and money on.
Im taking my Computer Information System Degree in College right now, but I have to pick an area of concentration, I don’t know the difference, one choice says Microsoft Network Administration and one says Programming. My School counselors aren’t able to tell me the difference, does anyone know what the difference is and who gets paid more? and higher demand?
And also if you could guess which one do you think would have the better job outlook?
Computer programming normally involves writing code. This means learning computer languages for example C++, Java so you can write applications and software.
Network Administration is more about configuring a network. Chances are the course would go over microsoft software such as exchange(mail server), IIS Web server, and talk about how to Create and manage user accounts. The course may also go over go over things like network protocols (ie telnet, ftp, ssh ect), configuring routers, firewalls and switches. Microsoft is however not known for there network devices so it is hard for me to guess exactly what would be taught in the way of network devices.
I have the lg something by net ten. I want to get the samsung qwerty keyboard phone. Can I just switch sim cards or do I have to change my phone number?
i didn’t know NET10 had sim cards, but if they do, it should work. the identification information (i.e., your phone number and account information) should carry over with the SIM. not sure about your contacts if you have a media card in there.
I wish to attend a local community college to enroll in the computer programming program. The program will teach Java, C++, and SQL. Is this something that can lead to high paying job, or will you have to get a BS in Computer science to really move up? I don’t want to work hard for a dead end job!
If you’re good at a job, where you got your degree and what degree you got will soon become worthless. I would strongly recommend you look for a place that offers co-op so you can get some work experience. After a year in the real world at a job, no one will care about where you got your education - they’ll only care about your work experience. And that leads to how good at your job you are. If you’re reliable, intelligent and hard-working, yes, you can move into a high paying job as a software developer.
I’m a trainee teacher and one of the pupils asked about this. I thought that there ought to be a perfect/optimum configuration, depending on the size of the sphere and the number of faces. If there is no limit on the smallness of the faces, then I suppose the perfect net would be a tessellating pattern, such as hexagons? But then how would we get it to curve round rather than go on for ever as a flat surface?
The net would not be a tesellation, or as you said, it would just be flat forever.
If you look up, say, the net of a Dodecahedron then you will see ‘cracks’ in the net which allow it to curve back on itself when folded up into the solid shape.

To your pupil’s question: For a better approximation of a sphere than a Dodecahedron or Icosahedron, you would have to start using solids with different shaped faces (because there are, of course, only 5 platonic solids).
Using arbitrarily small triangles, you could get an arbitrarily close approximation of a sphere such as in this picture:

as i said, i have read and researched about it, but could not find a good explanation. could someone explain it to me in an understandable way? in a way simpler and more understandable than what i saw on the internet when i searched
a good search shows its (layman’s terms) like java but compatible with java and all other types like java. and has 3d tech in it and however many D’s , 4d 5d … <?> . my opinion its like a gamers expansion pak.
See I want to become a Software Engineer, but I don’t know about Computer programming or Computer languages. So can someone help me.
Thanks.
Yes, you can take those courses in the computer science department. I took a class on C in college, and once you know one programming language the rest are just a change of syntax.
